Paralegal / Case Manager

Lisseth Polanco

I am a Latina fluent in Spanish with Salvadoran origins. I grew up in a family with strong professional backgrounds, including professors and attorneys. I came to the United States in 1982 and am a proud American who believes deeply in justice and compassion. I was raised in a conservative family and have two wonderful children who are also professionals.

I have worked in the legal field as a legal secretary and paralegal for 37 years, since 1989. I have been with the Cohen family law firm since November 2003, where I work as a paralegal and office manager with accounting responsibilities. Throughout my career, I have gained experience in human resources, pre-litigation, and litigation. I also serve as secretary of the Community Church in Los Angeles, where I assist with legal paperwork and support the community through our charity program, which includes missions in Central America.

In my spare time, I love to travel and spend time with family and friends.

I’ve always been drawn to litigation because of the pace, problem-solving opportunities, and the impact it has on people’s lives. Over the past eight years, I’ve worked across business and probate litigation, and I now focus on personal injury—where the work feels especially meaningful because I help clients through some of the most difficult moments they’ll face.

My approach is simple: stay organized, stay proactive, and treat every case with the same level of care and attention I’d want if it were my own. I support attorneys through every phase of litigation—from drafting pleadings and managing discovery to preparing for trial and keeping cases on track daily. I also work closely with clients and handle key case details like medical records and billing, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.

I take pride in being someone the team can rely on, especially when things get busy or high-pressure. Litigation can be demanding, but that’s exactly what I enjoy about it—there’s always something to solve, and every detail matters.

I earned my undergraduate degree from UC Riverside and completed my paralegal certification at UC Irvine.
